ADVERTISING ART DIRECTOR: Spend their time brainstorming, planning and arranging ideas for new advertisements. ADVERTISING ART DIRECTOR

APP DEVELOPER: Designs and creates an app for just about any computing device, from desktop computers to mobile devices. Once the app exists, the developer will help test it and correct any bugs prior to the launch of the app. APP DEVELOPER

ANIMATOR: Brings animation and cartoons to life on both film and video following a pre-planned storyboard. They use drawing, modelling or computer graphics to make pictures and models come to life in order to entertain and/or inform people. ANIMATOR

ARCHITECT: Designs, plans and directs the construction of buildings of all kinds and sizes, and changes to existing buildings. ARCHITECT

ART THERAPIST: A counsellor who specialises with art as a medium of expression. ART THERAPIST

ARTIST: Creates pieces of art such as paintings, sculptures, mosaics, or photography. ARTIST

ARTS AGENT / PROMOTOR: Arts agents/promoters work to create and maintain contacts, for example gaining media coverage and exhibitions in galleries, to promote an artist and their work. ARTS AGENT/PROMOTER

BOOKBINDER: Involved in all aspects of the printing process after printing, using manual and automated techniques. BOOKBINDER

CAMERA OPERATOR: Operates the camera equipment needed to make films, videos and TV programmes.CAMERA OPERATOR

CARTOONIST: Draws cartoons for publication, which may be political, humourous, or narrative. CARTOONIST

CERAMICS DESIGNER: Ceramics designers create designs for three-dimensional pottery products such as kitchenware, table and ovenware, tiles, bathroom accessories, decorative pieces etc. CARTOONIST

COSTUME DESIGNER: Design costumes and stage sets for television, film and theatrical productions. COSTUME DESIGNER

CRAFT DESIGNER: Craft designers create designs for a wide range of two-dimensional and three-dimensional objects. They may work for large-scale manufacturers or be self-employed. CRAFT DESIGNER

CREATIVE DIRECTOR: Creates and overseas the creative design of a project CREATIVE DIRECTOR

CURATOR: Has responsibility for the general upkeep and management of a museum or gallery. CURATOR

DESIGNER: Crafts-based ‘designer-makers’ create products that bring together art, form and functionality for commercial purposes. DESIGNER

DESKTOP PUBLISHER: Uses a computer and specialist software to create the design and layout of books, newspapers and magazines. DESKTOP PUBLISHER

DIGITAL MEDIA DESIGNER: Creates special effects, animation, and visual images for use in products or creations, such as computer games, movies, music videos, and commercials. DIGITAL MEDIA DESIGNER

DIRECTOR: The director is responsible for all the creative and technical tasks involved in realising a film or television programme. DIRECTOR

EXHIBITION DESIGNER: Organises and arranges the display of exhibits in an art gallery or museum to improve the viewer’s experience. EXHIBITION DESIGNER

FASHION DESIGNER: Designs and creates all kinds of clothes and fashion accessories. FASHION DESIGNER

FILM / VIDEO EDITOR: Edits and prepares pre-recorded footage for a film or video. FILM EDITOR

FOOTWEAR DESIGNER: Footwear designers combine artistic talent with technical knowledge to create new footwear designs or change existing ones. They need to keep up-to-date with fashion trends and the needs of buyers. FOOTWEAR DESIGNER

FURNITURE DESIGNER: Produces concepts and designs for interesting, aesthetic, and functional furniture and related products for sale in retail furniture outlets. FURNITURE DESIGNER

GAME DESIGNER: Comes up with ideas for new video games, and makes design choices during their development to improve the player’s overall experience.GAMES DESIGNER

ILLUSTRATOR: Illustrators are fine artists who convey ideas, facts and feelings using the skills of painting and drawing and their own creativity. ILLUSTRATOR

INDUSTRIAL DESIGNER: Industrial designers, or product designers as they are sometimes called, design just about every consumer product and capital equipment imaginable for large scale production. INDUSTRIAL DESIGNER

JEWELLER DESIGNER: Sells, designs, makes and repairs wearable and decorative or functional objects such as rings, earrings, necklaces, watches and tableware using using both precious and non-precious metals and stones, and other materials such as glass, plastic, paper and fabrics. JEWELLER DESIGNER

LANDSCAPE DESIGNER / ARCHITECT: Landscape architects work as part of a team of architects, surveyors, town planners, engineers and landscape contractors to design the landscape around us, such as parks, stadiums and public squares. LANDSCAPE DESIGNER / ARCHITECT

CONSERVATOR (MUSEUM / ART GALLERY): Preserves objects to protect them from decay, usually specialising in a particular material or group of objects such as textiles, furniture or paintings. CONSERVATOR

MAKE UP ARTIST: Uses make-up to either enhance or characterise a persons features for on stage, film or television. MAKE-UP ARTIST

MILLINER: Milliners design and create hats, they work from images to create new shapes and forms. They work with a wide variety of materials from straw and paper to velvets and silks. MILLINER

MODEL MAKER: Makes a miniature-scaled version of buildings, ships and other development or construction designs. MODEL MAKER

MULTIMEDIA DESIGNER: Designs graphics and visual presentations for computer based multimedia applications. MULTIMEDIA DESIGNER

PACKAGING DESIGNER: Packaging designers create designs for containers such as bottles, cartons and boxes. PACKAGING DESIGNER

PHOTOGRAPHER: Uses a camera to record still images of people, places, events, occasions, medical settings and commercial property. PHOTOGRAPHER

SCREEN PRINTER: Screen printers use a fabric screen method of printing. They print designs, pictures and other images onto a variety of materials. SCREEN PRINTER

SCULPTOR: Designs and creates statues, artistic objects and figures by moulding and carving from various materials. SCULPTOR

TATTOO ARTIST: Uses needles and pigments to apply a permanent design directly to a client’s body, injecting ink under a layer of skin. TATOO ARTIST

TEACHER: Teach a wide range of art, design and craft skills to students. TEACHER

TEXTILE DESIGNER: Create designs for printed, woven and knitted fabrics, carpets and wall-coverings TEXTILE DESIGNER

THEATRE / TELEVISION DESIGNER: Theatre/television designers create or select exterior and interior scenes for theatrical or television/film productions. THEATRE/TELEVISION DESIGNER

VISUAL MERCHANDISER: Creates displays for the windows and departments of retail outlets to attract customers into the shop. VISUAL MERCHANDISER
